Shhhhh.... I grabbed my mom's camera when she wasn't looking

I just wanted to give my own update. I've been shuffled around from place to place for so long now that I was concerned that you may have forgotten about me.

Now I took these photos myself and well that's not a flattering shot of my backside. How did that get loaded? So bare with me I don't have thumbs, my mom keeps saying they're on back order. I don't think I believe her anymore.

We all seem to be doing OK. My dad absolutely LOVES his new job and my mom can't wait to get settled in to find a new job herself, she really didn't like her old one. My Grandma's and Grandpa are great, they feed me stuff from the table when my parents aren't looking. I've gotten to see my cousin Harper a bunch of times, I love her because she's at the perfect sniffing height, and I can follow her around the house now that she's mobile. My aunt's and uncle (and uncle to be) are really fun. I get so excited when I see them that I run around crazy in the yard. And I'm told that pretty soon I get to see Ernie* again. I haven't seen him since this past fall. I hope he hasn't forgotten me. I get so nervous around him, he's so big and handsome.

Ooops, dropped it.

This is me on an African safari. Well I haven't been to Africa yet but with the number of trips in the car it feels like I could have been there and back already.

I haven't figured out when the timer setting on the camera will go off.
I want to give a "shout out" to my long lost Brother and Sisters. We'll be together soon.

Oh and Welcome to the Dog Daze of Summer. 90+ degrees in May!? I don't even want to think about August. Stay cool, and cool.

With Much Love,

Ruby.

*PS. This is Ernie, I told you he was handsome.

the search continues...

Due to the possibility of asbestos* in the property, we are continuing our search for a new home.

This may take a while so bare with us, it may be quite awhile before you are all invited to help us move (how exciting!) or paint (how thrilling!) or install new flooring (you know who you are.)

We'll keep you informed, we may even invite you just to visit (it could happen).

*Asbestos (a misapplication of Latin: asbestos "quicklime" from Greek ἄσβεστος: a, "not" and sbestos, "extinguishable") describes any of a group of minerals that can be fibrous, many of which are metamorphic and are hydrous magnesium silicates. These minerals, together with their occurrences, uses, and associated hazards, have been discussed in detail by Guthrie and Mossman (1993).

The name is derived for its historical use in lamp wicks; the resistance of asbestos to fire has long been exploited for a variety of purposes. Asbestos was used in fabrics such as Egyptian burial cloths and Charlemagne's tablecloth (which according to legend, he threw in a fire to clean). Asbestos occurs naturally in many forms (see below); it is mined from metamorphic rocks.

When asbestos is used for its resistance to fire or heat, the fibers are often mixed with cement or woven into fabric or mats. Asbestos is used in brake shoes and gaskets for its heat resistance, and in the past was used on electric oven and hotplate wiring for its electrical insulation at elevated temperature, and in buildings for its flame-retardant and insulating properties, tensile strength, flexibility, and resistance to chemicals. The inhalation of amphibole asbestos fibers, however, can cause a number of serious illnesses, including cancer. Many uses of asbestos are banned in multiple countries.

I finally have some news

Well its not my news, but its fun and exciting just the same.
My sister in-law Julia is getting Married!!!

We are very happy and excited and can't wait to start planning. First Wedding Bells and then possibly the pitter patter of little paws (I mean Feet). Our love to both Julia and Henry.

April Showers...

Bring disaster to North East.
Take a look at some of the damage to the walking trail along the Bronx River. So much for Ruby's walks.

Cha cha changes

Ok,
I'm not sure what this guy who made the video is talking about, but I liked the song.

Nothing major to report. No bio-synthesis here or new litters to welcome. I'm just hanging out trying to get used to my husband's new job and trying to find a new house.

If anything exciting happens I'll be sure to keep you in touch.

Our New "Temporary" Home

Welcome to the world of The Black (Grey) Squirrel and the Teenage Driven "High End" SUV.

There seems to be a strange mutation running a muck here in Westchester County. The grey squirrel ( Sciurus carolinensis ) has decided it prefers to be black. I'm assuming it has based it's decision on the fact that most cars in the area are also the same color, and therefore will not clash with it when run over. (People are crazy here)

Which brings me to my next point. No one should let a 16 year old drive a $50,000 (or higher) car to school. It's just not right people. I don't care how good their grades are, teenagers don't know how to drive.

For those of you who can't tell from the picture, that would be an Acura SUV parked behind a Lexus SUV out side the local high school. There were also quite a number of Volvo's, Audi's, and Mercedes' in the student lot. It makes me want to vomit. Parked in the Teachers lot, were Volkswagen's and Honda's.

The seach for the new house begins!

Will it be the house of our dreams?

A smaller version?

A quiet place to contemplate our future?

Or a quiet cottage in need of some love?

Lets hope (fingers crossed) it's this.
(it's Hogwarts)

things...

Well a lot has happened over the past 2 weeks. i found out that; my cousin is expecting (what we aren't quite sure yet she hasn't filled us in. Any time now young lady.), Harper has been with our family now for six whole months, and my dad is finally on his way to becoming retarded ooops I mean retired.

This is what I have been working on in the mean time...

A new color in the 3rd bedroom, you can't see through this one.

The final filler piece in the Kitchen.

Casings and baseboards around the not so new kitchen door.

A ceiling fan that does not have shims sticking out from it to keep it from wiggling.

Another White closet (actually two more white closets the other one didn't photograph to well).

And last but not least. New curtains on the porch.

Ahhh Christmas Once Again.

We (all six of us) wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We slacked on the holiday cards; there was a little too much going on. We did appreciate the number of cards and pictures that we received, and we can’t believe that all of you guys are as old as you are. (we haven’t aged a bit).

I wanted to show you all some of the fun stuff that Ruby got for Christmas.

This is her most favorite and prized possession now. She always gets this serious face on when wearing it, like she’s about to go out and save the world.

Oops, wrong photo. That was a gift from her aunt Margaret. (I personally love the ears)

She also had an opportunity to hand out gifts dressed as Santa. (she really liked chasing the pompom on the end)

Here is her other most prized possession. Her Octomuck. (not normally worn on the head, but it’s the holiday season and she was being silly)

So Happy Holidays to you all lets not make it another year before we can goof off together.

Love Us

Tips, Warnings, and Funny Stories

Around the holiday season there are many things around the house that aren’t usually present through out the year; wrapping paper, bows, tree ornaments, and ribbons.

I’m not sure how many of you out there have critters that might find all this new stuff quite funny to play with. So here is

The Tip:

Give your pets their Christmas toys early. This will keep them occupied with something new that they are allowed to play with.

The Warning:

If you have cats that think eating ribbon is fun, keep reading.

The Funny Story:

Now because we are in transition the cat box is in the bath tub of the bathroom that I use also. Late last night I was getting ready for bed. I look over and Eddie decided this is a perfect time to stink up the place. Only things don’t appear to be going quite as smoothly as he would like them too. He hops out of the box like something has grabbed him by the tail and looks wildly around. That is when I saw it, the glimmer of a little red shiny thing hanging out from under his tail.

Here is where it gets funny. Picture in your mind the music to Benny Hill (the British comedy show that often runs on PBS) and me and Eddie chasing each other around the bathroom (as small as it is) him with a little red ribbon sticking out of his butt and me with a wad of toilet paper trying to catch it. We played this game for a good 5 to 10 minutes before I was able to tackle him to the ground lift his tail and remove an eight inch piece of ribbon from his bum.

I have been watching to make sure things have been moving smoothly ever since and have put away lots of ribbon in the house.

Happy Holidays!!!

The silly antics of Miss Ruby

Well with all the work I’ve been doing, the lack of attention for my sweet little pup and lack of furniture, ruby has taken advantage of my misdirection and taken over the bed (which is now down at her level).

Unfortunately I have to wash my pillowcase now.

In our daily talks (yes I talk to my dog, do you see anyone else in the picture?) I casually mentioned that Ruby was part lab dog, and that her mother was part Labrador retriever. I think she misunderstood me and thought I had said lap dog.

Now you have to understand that the only furniture that allows a lap to be present is a folding camping chair, which is what We are sitting on.

Moving...

Well my house is empty. All my stuff (the polite term) has been packed up.

Now I have to tell you, I have moved quite frequently for the past 7 years. (Hopefully the next 7 won’t be quite as eventful) I have moved (with my husband) from the northeast to the southwest, the southwest to the mid-Atlantic and from the mid-Atlantic back to the northeast. We are now headed from the northeast to the northeast. In all of those moves we have had things broken, dented and lost. This latest move was a piece of cake (don’t tell my husband, he still owes me for having to do it all myself)

The George Arpin and Son’s moving company (yes a shameless plug) was responsible this time. I was really REALLY impressed with the crew they had to do all the packing and moving.

Now I said it was the easiest, but moving is certainly not easy. I’m beat and headed for bed.

Talk to you all later

Love me

moving and steps

I've been working on my outdoor projects while the weather was nice. Key word here is "was" we are excepting more snow and below average temperatures,

I also wanted to share my new apartment.

Looks cozy doesn't it?

You know that feeling when you get something right?

You get it right the first time, with no leaks?

This is my new pride and joy.

Ok, so it's just some water pipes. The point is I pulled them apart, added a few pieces, and put them back together with no leaks. I was shocked!!!

Season's Greetings

We have had our first snow storm, and oddly enough it came before our first hard frost.

Things are getting done on the house (nothing that would show up in a picture, sorry) at least it looks good in the snow. Maybe we’ll get a couple of feet so all the dog spots in the backyard wont show.

Love me
